Vivo Care Choices has signed up to the Local Living Wage in west Cheshire, promising to help make sure workers can earn a decent living.
The Local Living Wage was launched by Cheshire West and Chester Council to allow the economy and residents to thrive, reducing the risk of people entering poverty.
The rate of £9 per hour under the Local Living Wage is calculated to cover the real cost of living in the area. It is different from the National Living Wage rate of £8.21 per hour for people aged over 25, which is a mandatory rate set by Government and was formerly known as the minimum wage.
Vivo is one of a number of organisations in the care sector to recently sign up to the Local Living Wage.
Alistair Jeffs, Vivo Managing Director, said: “We’re delighted to sign up to the Local Living Wage in west Cheshire.
“We have a dedicated workforce that always goes above and beyond to help the people they’re caring for achieve the best outcomes in life.
“By signing up to the Local Living Wage, we’re showing how much we appreciate our workforce as we’ll make sure all staff are earning the wage they deserve for the great work they do.
“It’s fantastic to see other organisations in the care sector getting on board with the campaign and I hope many others will follow.”
