Mark, who visits Vivo Care Choices’ learning disability day services in Neston, is fulfilling his dreams and learning to drive with the help of staff.
Vivo recently moved back to Cheshire West and Chester Council as an in-house service, continuing to support people with learning disabilities and autism and older people across the borough.
After Mark explained how driving was on his bucket list and something he’d always wanted to do, staff member Debbie put all the steps in place to make it a reality.
Debbie found an instructor who specialised in supporting people with learning disabilities and sourced an app to help him get ready for his theory test.
With Mark concerned about the cost of lessons, he paid for one taster session to see whether it was for him and Debbie then helped him access funding for 40 hours’ worth of teaching.
Mark is now doing one of the things he has always wanted to and recently bought a car, which his support staff will also be able to drive, helping him live as independently as possible in the community.
Vivo is currently recruiting staff across west Cheshire to work across its range of different services, offering up to £15.59 per hour for support workers, an excellent pension scheme with a 23 per cent employer contribution, ongoing training and development opportunities and many more benefits.
