Sixteen years in adult social care has provided an opportunity for Natalie to develop her career and have a positive impact on the lives of thousands of people.

Vivo, which is owned by Cheshire West and Chester Council, provides a range of services for people with learning disabilities and autism and older people, including those with dementia.

After beginning her career in adult social care with the Council, Natalie moved over to Vivo when the company was created back in 2013 and she has worked across a range of different services since.

Natalie is now a Senior Support Worker at Lightfoot Lodge in Chester, highlighting the clear pathway available at Vivo to form a successful career in the sector.

The support Vivo provides has always been important, but the COVID-19 pandemic has only highlighted that even more.

She said: “The whole world felt like it stopped, but we didn’t because our guys and their families needed support.

“Every day is a learning day as it’s completely different.

“It can be challenging, but it’s extremely worthwhile as we’re looking after some very vulnerable people and you can see the difference our work makes.

“We always go above and beyond and our work can sometimes take a lot of patience.

“We recently helped someone we support get to hospital for an operation and it took months of team work to get to that stage, but you know you’ve done right at the end of it.”

Vivo’s recent Employee Awards showcased some of the amazing things staff have done to make a real difference to others.

According Natalie, wanting to help others enjoy their life to the full is key to working in the sector.

She added: “If you’re the type of person who wants a job that is meaningful, knowing that you’ve made a difference, it’s perfect for you.

“There’s a lot of people who’ve been working here for more than 20 years and that says a lot about Vivo.

“We’re called Vivo Care Choices for a reason because we offer people a choice and make sure we do things they enjoy so the pandemic has been difficult, but it’s fantastic that we’re now out and about in the community again.”

There are plenty of benefits working for Vivo compared to other providers.
