After supporting people with learning disabilities and autism at Vivo Care Choices, Wendy (pictured left) leaves work feeling like she’s achieved something.
Vivo, a company owned by Cheshire West and Chester Council, provides a range of services for people with learning disabilities and autism and older people, including those with dementia.
Wendy, who has worked at Vivo for around three years, supports two people in the respite services at Dover Drive in Ellesmere Port, making sure the right support is put in place for each of them and their needs.
She said: “All we’re doing is supporting people and helping them have a better life.
“During the pandemic, we’ve had to think outside the box, keep people entertained and make sure they’ve carried on doing the things they love.
“One of the people I support can speak and the other can’t, but you know when they’re enjoying themselves and you always feel like you’ve achieved something.
“Going out in the community is a big thing for them so it’s fantastic that we’ve been able to do that again over the last couple of months.”
Not only is a job at Vivo rewarding, but there are also plenty of benefits compared to other providers.
- Competitive pay
- Generous holiday allowance
- Excellent pension scheme
- Opportunities to train and develop your career
- Employee Awards and other benefits
Wendy added: “I’ve worked in the sector for more than 20 years and Vivo is a very good place to be.
“There are a lot of opportunities in Vivo to do things that will really help the people you support as there are so many links and partnerships.
“There are some organisations where everything is done outside or in a certain way, but we have a good mix at Vivo as we have access to our own buildings, the local community and other organisations we work with.”
There are a number of different roles across learning disability day services, supported living services, respite services, older people services and Shared Lives, providing an opportunity for you to create a successful career for yourself in the care sector.
Vivo is looking for people who share its CARE values – caring, aspire, respect and enable – and want to help people enjoy happy, independent and fulfilling lives.
