Vivo Care Choices staff at the Coronation Centre are holding regular Zoom sessions so people at home can continue taking part in a range of fun activities.
With people accessing Vivo’s services spending more time at home, the Zoom sessions allow them to stay connected with staff and their friends. They’re able to take part in baking sessions, dancing sessions, quizzes and many more activities.
Staff have worked hard to make sure people using services have access and are comfortable with the technology they need to get involved with the sessions.
While it’s a chance for people using services to have plenty of fun in the comfort of their own home, staff can also find out how they’re feeling and might want services to be delivered in the longer term, offering any ongoing support needed.
Heather Hormbrey, who manages Vivo’s learning disability day services at the Coronation Centre, said: “We’ve had plenty of positive feedback so far about the Zoom sessions.
“These are really challenging times for people with learning disabilities and autism and we wanted to make sure those currently at home could stay connected with us.
“We’ll develop this offer in the coming weeks and months, but we’re already providing a chance for people to take part in a range of different activities.
“There’s something for everyone and we’re working with people using services, as well as their carers and family members, to make sure they can continue doing all the things they love.
“Our staff have worked extremely hard to get these Zoom sessions up and running and it’s fantastic to see the rewards they’re bringing.”
