Please note: this is the current position and could potentially change on a daily basis. Regular updates will follow to keep you informed. Please check Vivo’s website and social media channels for updates.
Vivo Care Choices will be making some changes to its services in response to COVID-19 to protect everyone connected with the organisation, including those using services, staff and families and carers.
All resources will be reprioritised so care and support is delivered in a home environment to everyone who has no alternative care in place.
Following the national guidance to avoid all non-essential travel and stay at home as much as possible, especially for the elderly and those with underlying health conditions, Vivo’s services are being redirected away from communal day care and respite towards personalised care in a supported home environment.
The following actions are being put in place by Vivo.
Supported living accommodation
- All care and support will be delivered in a home environment.
Learning disability day services
- All services will be closed from Monday 23 March 2020. This is proposed for 12 weeks, but it will be reviewed regularly.
Older people day services
- All services will be closed from Monday 23 March 2020. This is proposed for 12 weeks, but it will be reviewed regularly.
Curzon House (permanent residents, respite, planned and emergency admissions)
- All non-essential visits will be stopped with immediate effect.
- All current respite will be prioritised to meet each individual’s needs.
Learning disability respite at Dorin Court
- It is proposed for all planned respite to be ceased from Monday 23 March 2020.
Learning disability respite at Dover Drive
- Some planned respite will be ceased, but each case will be looked at on an individual basis.
Shared Lives
- Sessional placements will be reviewed on an individual basis, but all community activity will stop.
- It is proposed for all planned respite to be ceased from Monday 23 March 2020.
Volunteer day centres
- Each volunteer day centre has taken the decision to close and Vivo has been notified.
Cafés
- Both the Little Roodee Café and Stanlaw Abbey Café have been closed with immediate effect.
Families and carers will be contacted with more in-depth information about services and what is being put in place for their loved ones.
Vivo will continue to monitor guidance as the situation is constantly changing, but these decisions have been made to protect all of the vulnerable people it supports, as well as staff and carers and families.
Please keep an eye on Vivo’s website and social media channels for the latest information.
If you have questions about the changes being put in place for Vivo Care Choices’ services and how they will be delivered for your loved ones moving forward, you can call: 0300 123 5059 (option 3 then option 2). You can also get in touch directly with your usual contacts in services.
Are there any restrictions on the activities that are being put into place. I for one would not like to see our Andrew going to gym / swimming (Tuesdays), or his market work (Fridays) but would consider the allotment at the Children’s Centre (Stanlaw Abbey) to be ok as there is little 3rd party / public contact (provided that time in the building cafe is minimised).
It is information such as this that I consider to be of great importance, as it enables us (parents) to consider whether to fetch him in, or not on particular days.
Hi unprecedented times I appreciate but as time goes on I’m becoming concerned about carers stress.
My Dad attends day care x2 weekly have you considered offering a service for your staff to go for a walk with those day care people who are currently isolating. I appreciate they may have been redeployed as have I as an NHS nurse but I would like to hear back from you if you are in discussions about any alternatives Regards Susan
